For mare owners

How do I create a user?

If you don’t have a user on Studly yet, you can create one here. You can sign up via your e-mail. It’s completely free to create and register an account on Studly. When you create an account, make sure to fill out the information needed before you order a covering for your mare.

How much does it cost to book a stallion on Studly for my mare?

You can find prices on our Stud Book or you can open any stallion’s profile where you can see the price, as well as terms and conditions that apply for booking that stallion.

Why is my payment split into smaller pieces?

Your payment is split into smaller pieces to avoid any surprises and to minimise financial risks.

Why do I pay a reservation-fee?

You have to pay a reservation-fee equal to 1/3 of the total price of a stallion. Your payment of the reservation-fee will act as an order confirmation and formal agreement between you and the stallion owner. The reservation-fee also acts as an assurance to the stallion owner that you will follow through with your booking of his or her stallion. As of such, the fee is not refunded in any way or form.

Why do I pay a second payment?

You’ll be charged for the second payment equal to 2/3 of the total price of a stallion when your mare gets in-foal. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and you can provide documentation of negative gestation, then you’re not charged for the second payment, but only the expenses.

How long time does the stallion owner have to reply to my request?

The stallion owner have 24 hours to accept or decline your request. When the stallion owner accept your request, your order will be processed and you will receive a payment link via email charging you with the reservation-fee. If the stallion owner declines your request, or if your request expires after 24 hours, then you don’t have to pay anything.

Is my mare covered by insurance if an accident happens?

We refer mare owners, interested in a prospective foal insurance, to Agria Dyreforsikring. You can read more about our collaboration with Agria here.

How do I register my stallion on Studly?

You can register your stallion on Studly right here. Keep in mind that we do quality checks on all stallions and follow the rules and guidelines of each breeding association. As of such, stallions must be approved for breeding before being uploaded to Studly.

How do I accept or decline a request placed on my stallion?

When mare owners sends you a request to use your stallion, you’ll receive an e-mail in which you can accept or decline. You have 24 hours to accept or decline their request, otherwise the mare owner’s request will expire. Mare owners can cancel or change their requests or bookings up to 48 hours after it has been placed, or prior to it being confirmed by you.

How do I update my stallion's information?

We prioritise quality. If you’ve registered your stallion on Studly, you can expect up-to-date information. We follow up on profiles, including partnerships with stallion owners, especially when the season is about to end. In the meantime, if you still have some changes for your stallion’s profile, contact us here and we will make sure to implement your changes as soon as possible.

What is required from the mare owner?

We require all mare owners and users of Studly to agree to our terms and conditions. We also require some information about themselves, including contact information and information about their mare. This will make sure that you know who is booking your stallion, and which mare the cover or semen is for and how you eventually contact its owner.

When do I receive payment for the bookings placed on my stallion?

Mare owners will be charged 1/3 of the price when they place a booking on your stallion via Studly. Second payment equal to 2/3 of the price is due when the mare gets in-foal. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and documentation of negative gestation can be obtained and showed, then Studly will issue a refund for the second payment to the mare owner and they’ll therefore only be charged for any additional expense.

What is Studly's business model?

In order to maintain Studly as a platform, we generally take a 10% commission fee per booking. Here’s an example: If the price for using your stallion is 10.000 kr., we’ll take 1.000 kr. in the case that you get a sale via Studly. You can read more about payment here.
