Trust, safety and payment

Ordering a stallion for your mare, from someone you’ve never met, is a matter of trust.

We follow the rules of each breeding association. This means that stallions can only be registered on Studly if they’re already approved for breeding. It also means that you, as a mare owner, won’t be able to order a stallion on Studly if your mare falls outside of the breeding association’s rules and guidelines for breeding. You can read more about our collaboration with breeding associations here.

We here for you 24/7. We know how important it is to be able to trust the stallion owner, whose stallion, you’re ordering a covering from. To ensure you and your mare a good experience, we ask all stallion owners to live up to our guidelines, and if you order a stallion and something seems not right, you can always contact us. Our employees are ready to help you and assist you with re-ordering, get compensation or if you just have questions regarding your current order.

Safety first

We take precautions to protect your Studly account and require multi-factor authentication if we register attempts of login from a new device, phone or computer, and we will always notify you when changes to your account is made.

We take good care of you and your mare by doing regular quality checks on the stallion’s assessment, data and ownership before they’re made available for booking on Studly. And even after registration, our employees continuously follow up on all stallions and their information to make sure everything is correct and up-to-date. That way, we work to prevent fraud and misleading information, and you can safely make a purchase via our verified stallion owners.

Nothing is more important than your mare’s health. We’re with you all the way, and collaborate with the stallion owner to bring you notice if the animals gets ill, veterinary checks, absence, result of scans etc. As a mare owner, you can also purchase a prospective foal insurance from Agria Dyreforsikring. Just in case. You can read more about our collaboration with Agria Dyreforsikring here.

Easy and secure payment

We collect your payment information when you register an account on Studly. Our platform is developed to handle your payment and make sure that your money is safely transfered to the stallion owner. We always recommend that you communicate and pay through Studly and never transfer money directly to someone you don’t know. As long as you stay on the Studly-platform throughout the entire process, you’re protected by our system and defense-strategy.

You can almost always expect to dig deep in your pockets, regardless of which stallion you choose for your mare. And that’s why we decided to split your payment in smaller chunks so that you’re not surprised and that the financial risks are minimized.

Ordering:

  • We charge a reservation-fee equal to 1/3 of the total price of a stallion. We need to register your payment before your order can be processed.

Live cover (pasture and in-hand breeding):

  • We charge the second payment equal to 2/3 of the total price of a stallion plus any expense (certificate, stay, veterinarian services etc.) before the mare gets picked up. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and you can provide documentation of negative gestation, then you’re not charged for the second payment, but only the expenses.

Artificial insemination (fresh, chilled and frozen semen):

  • We charge the second payment equal to 2/3 of the total price of a stallion plus any expense (certificate, tapping, shipment etc.) when the mare gets in-foal or 70 days after insemination the latest. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and you can provide documentation of negative gestation, then you’re not charged for the second payment, but only the expenses.

Your payment is kept in an escrow account before it is released to the stallion owner and gives you time to make sure that everything is as it needs to be. Your payment to the stallion owner of 2/3 of the total price depends entirely on the outcome of the gestation of the mare. If the mare doesn’t get in-foal, we will issue a refund to you. You can find the total price you have to pay for a stallion on the stallion’s profile.

Transparency and trust is important for your experience with Studly.

We collect the necessary information when the mare owner sends you a request to use your stallion. This is done in order to tell you up-front who’s actually sending you the request, what mare is your stallion requested for and how to contact the mare owner eventually. And if there’s anything feeling not right then it’s up to you if you want to accept or decline the mare owners request. Easy, right?

Take control and stay ahead of the season Our system gives you a 360-degree overview of all your stallions, orders, requests, customer relationships and much more. It’s very handy to have all the information you need in one place that you can access wherever, whenever, especially if you’re responsible for submitting documents and statutory papers to your breeding association.

We go ALL-IN when we partner up with you. Our employees are experts in online marketing, web-development and use of Google. That way, we can attract a lot of traffic and potential customers that might not know anything about your stallion – yet, that is. The only thing you have to focus on is to spend more time with the horses you love. We’ll take care of the rest.

We here for you 24/7. Our skilled employees are ready to help you with anything e.g. if you need assistance setting up an account or make your stallion’s profile look dashing. This also includes help with setting up the stallion’s profile with images, videos, description and more.

Safety all the way

We take precautions to protect your Studly account and require multi-factor authentication if we register attempts of login from a new device, phone or computer, and we will always notify you when changes to your account is made.

To protect you and your stallion we ask of you to fill out our form for covering conditions. This is not only for your sake, but also the mare owner’s who might need the information you provided in the covering conditions. The covering conditions is uploaded to your stallion’s profile so that visiting mare owners can download them directly, and you can be sure that the mare owner has read and agreed to the terms before they book your stallion.

Easy payment for your stallion’s services As it should be

Yours – and the mare owner’s – payment information is collected when you create an account on Studly. Our system has an integrated payment solution that is built to support and handle transactions between you and the mare owner. Thus, we always recommend you to only communicate and pay through Studly so that all parties is protected by our system and defense-strategy. You can read more about our collaboration with Clearhaus here.

Our experience tells us that there’s a big difference in the way that people prefer getting payed for their stallion’s services. Some prefer to receive payment all at once, while others prefer to make it easier for the mare owner and therefore split the payment up in smaller chunks. By splitting the payment into smaller pieces, and standardizing the payment process, we meet the expectations of both the mare owner and the stallion owner, and it works to prevent misunderstandings and minimizing financial risk.

Below, you can see how we usually charge and handle the mare owner’s payment.

Ordering:

  • We charge a reservation-fee equal to 1/3 of the total price of a stallion. The reservation-fee is payed out to you after we’ve registered the mare owner’s payment and charged a 10% service-fee.

Live cover (pasture and in-hand breeding):

  • We charge the second payment equal to 2/3 of the total price of a stallion plus any expense (certificate, stay, veterinarian services etc.) before the mare gets picked up. The second payment is payed out to you when the mare gets in-foal. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and documentation of negative gestation can be obtained and showed, then Studly will issue a refund for the second payment to the mare owner and they’ll therefore only be charged for any additional expense.

Artificial insemination (fresh, chilled and frozen semen):

  • We charge the second payment equal to 2/3 of the total price of a stallion plus any expense (certificate, tapping, shipment etc.) when the mare gets in-foal or 70 days after insemination the latest. If the mare DOESN’T get in-foal, and documentation of negative gestation can be obtained and showed, then Studly will issue a refund for the second payment to the mare owner and they’ll therefore only be charged for any additional expense.

We’ll charge the mare owners that book your stallion via Studly with a reservation-fee that acts as your guarantee that the mare owner actually follows through with their order. As of such, the reservation-fee is non-refundable even if the mare doesn’t get in-foal or if the mare doesn’t show up.

Any booking made on Studly is legally binding between the stallion owner and the mare owner. Payment will always be withheld on an escrow account to give all parties enough time to ensure that everything is as it should be, and it is the stallion owner and mare owners responsibility to provide documentation of negative or positive gestation for payment or refund to be issued.
